Chili’s Closes Siegen Marketplace Location After 27 Years: Shifting Towards Drive-Through Restaurants

Chili’s shuts down Baton Rouge location | Business

Chili’s, the well-known restaurant chain, recently closed its Siegen Marketplace location after 27 years of operation. The closure was announced through a sign on the door at 10305 N. Mall Drive, which thanked customers for their support and directed them to the two remaining Baton Rouge locations at College Drive-Constitution Avenue and on Millerville Road. However, officials from Brinker International, Chili’s parent company, did not provide any comments regarding the closure.

Over the past year and a half, Chili’s has been shutting down multiple locations across the United States. In 2023, the chain closed 16 restaurants in California, Tennessee, and Virginia as reported by Delishably. Recent online reports have indicated closures of Chili’s restaurants in various locations such as Port Arthur, Fort Wayne, Charlotte, Irvine, St. Joseph, and South Portland. The restaurant chain seems to be shifting its focus towards smaller drive-through locations as stated by RJ Hottovy, head of analytical research at Placer in an interview with CNN. These drive-through locations are smaller and require fewer staff members.
