San Antonio Sports’ Flag Football Tournament to Feature Elementary Students from 5 School Districts

On Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., over 850 elementary school-age children in the San Antonio Sports’ i play! after-school program will be competing in a flag football tournament in the San Antonio area. The students are in third through fifth grade and will be representing 44 area elementary schools from five different districts.

Throughout the 2023-2024 school year, these students received skill-based instruction in multiple sports, including flag football, as part of a seven-week unit. The i play! program aims to provide children in underserved schools with skill-based instruction in four sports, promoting confidence, self-esteem, and healthy habits.

Parents, family, and friends are encouraged to attend the games to support the young athletes. The program emphasizes self-discipline, social skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship while empowering children through sports and promoting a positive and healthy lifestyle.
