Chiefs Sign Veteran QB Carson Wentz to Boost Patrick Mahomes’ Durability and Leadership

Carson Wentz agrees to one-year contract with Chiefs

In a recent report by Jordan Schultz of the Bleacher Report, it was announced that the Kansas City Chiefs have signed veteran quarterback Carson Wentz to a one-year deal. The 31-year-old will serve as a backup to Patrick Mahomes, joining Chris Oladokun and Ian Book as the other quarterbacks on the roster. This marks Wentz’s fifth team in five years, following his stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders before landing in Los Angeles last season where he appeared in two games with one start, completing 70.8 percent of his passes for 163 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in 2023.

Since taking over as the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018, Mahomes has shown incredible durability, missing only four starts during that time. With Wentz now joining the team as a backup, fans can expect him to bring his experience and leadership skills to support Mahomes and help guide the team towards success on the field.
