Chiefs Player Arrested for Animal Cruelty, Denies Wrongdoing in Tuscaloosa

Isaiah Buggs, Chiefs defensive lineman, arrested and released in animal cruelty case

On Thursday, Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs was arrested in Tuscaloosa County (Alabama) Jail after two misdemeanor warrants were filed against him. The dogs, a gray and white pit bull, and a black rottweiler were found with no access to food or water and appeared malnourished and neglected. Sadly, the pit bull had to be euthanized.

After his release from jail, reporter Bryan Henry from WBRC asked Buggs for a comment. In response, Buggs placed his hand on the camera and said, “Don’t walk up in front of me.”

Buggs’ agent, Trey Robinson, denied the charges against Buggs and claimed that his client is a victim of an ongoing “subversive campaign” aimed at forcing the closure of the hookah lounge Buggs owns in Tuscaloosa. Buggs is 27 years old and signed a futures contract with the Chiefs in February after being on their practice squad late last season. A court hearing is scheduled for June 13.
