Reese spoke openly about the incident, expressing gratitude towards Thomas for sending a message with her hard foul. Despite being a rookie, Reese appreciated that opponents were not showing her any special treatment.

Reese explained that she was able to get back up and keep going after the foul, emphasizing that players are not supposed to be nice to her on the court. She made it clear that there were no hard feelings after the incident, even though Thomas was ejected for the flagrant-two foul.

The foul occurred during a contested rebound, where Thomas used one arm to knock Reese to the floor.
