Chelsea Targets Up-and-Coming Strikers Samu Omorodion and Jhon Duran, While Crystal Palace Permits Michael Olise Talks: A Summer of Transactions for Blues

Atletico Madrid refuse Chelsea’s offer for striker Omorodion

Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion made a strong impression while on loan at Deportivo Alaves last season, scoring nine goals in 35 appearances. The 20-year-old Spanish striker has been highly rated by his current club and is being considered for a renewal of his contract. However, Chelsea has shown interest in the young striker and held talks with Atletico Madrid about a potential £34m move. Despite initial offers including add-ons, Atletico Madrid has discouraged further approaches from the Blues.

Meanwhile, Chelsea continues to explore various attacking targets this summer. Among them is Aston Villa’s 20-year-old Colombian Jhon Duran, who was considered as part of a swap deal involving Chelsea’s 22-year-old Dutch defender Ian Maatsen. Additionally, the Blues are interested in Stuttgart’s 28-year-old Guinea forward Serhou Guirassy, who has an active release clause worth around £15m.

Crystal Palace has given Chelsea permission to speak with 22-year-old winger Michael Olise, but they face competition from Newcastle and Bayern Munich. Olise has a release clause in the region of £60m, making any potential deal complex due to percentages owed to various parties. Chelsea has already secured the signing of English defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham and is close to completing a £29m move for 17-year-old Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian. However, Willian will not join Chelsea until after his 18th birthday next summer.
