Aston Villa have sold 18-year-old midfielder Omari Kellyman to Chelsea for a deal that could reach up to £19m. The youngster, who has limited first-team experience with Villa, has signed a six-year contract with the Blues, which includes the option for an additional year.
Kellyman, who has represented England at the Under-20 level, initially joined Aston Villa in 2022 following a decade at Derby County. He expressed his excitement about the move and stated that it is a dream come true to be a part of such a prestigious club like Chelsea.
This signing comes on the heels of Ian Maatsen’s transfer from Chelsea to Aston Villa the day before. The deal with Villa is the latest in Chelsea’s series of transfer activities, following Hakim Ziyech’s permanent move to Galatasaray this week. The Moroccan winger completed a successful loan spell at the Turkish club last season before making his move permanent.
