The competitiveness between Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing was evident as they continued to dominate the season, with eight of the first nine races won by drivers from these two powerhouse organizations. The race took an unexpected turn when Denny Hamlin crashed while battling Elliott for the lead in overtime, allowing Elliott to secure the win.
