Celebrating Independence Day as Bulldog Fans: Honoring Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness in Athens

Breaking Free from the Tyranny of College Sports on Independence Day

Today, we celebrate Independence Day, Bulldog fans! It’s a day where we honor life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What makes each of us happy may vary greatly, but as Americans, we all share the common understanding that we are free to chase happiness in our own ways, with a few exceptions.

As we rejoice on this special day, let’s take a moment to reflect on the things we are grateful to be free from. For instance, the departure of Tom Crean and the hopelessness of Billy Napier in building a winning football program at the SEC level bring a sense of relief. With the uncertainties surrounding Carson Beck dispelled and new bathroom facilities at Sanford Stadium, we can appreciate the progress made.

Let’s also celebrate our freedom from dwindling chances of Tennessee winning a football national championship and impending retirement of Nick Saban. As we cheer for our beloved ‘Dawgs’, let’s also acknowledge the fading relevance of 1980 jokes and embrace this new era with open arms.

Today is a day to celebrate what it means to be American and what it means to be free. Let’s ring in the joy and cherish our independence as Bulldog fans!
