Celebrating 50 Years of Nutrition: Chatham County Health Department Hosts WIC Program Birthday Bash

Chatham County Health Department Marks 50th Anniversary of WIC Celebrations!

The Chatham County Health Department is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Program (WIC) in a big way. On Wednesday, May 22 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the health department’s WIC Garden at 1395 Eisenhower Dr. in Savannah will host an exciting birthday celebration for this important program.

Katee Sykes, Public Health Educator at the Chatham County Health Department, shared her excitement about hosting the event in the WIC Garden. The celebration will feature a variety of vendors offering free services, raffle prizes, light refreshments, and garden activities and games for children. Some of the participating vendors include Live Oak Libraries, Healthy Savannah, Forsyth Farmers Market, and Safe Kids Savannah.

Sykes emphasized the importance of supporting community well-being and highlighted how WIC has positively impacted families by providing access to healthy food, education, and resources for the past 50 years. She stressed the program’s commitment to making a real difference in people’s lives.
