Cedar Rapids Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Early Morning Blaze; Moderate Smoke Damage Suffered by Building

Firefighters respond to commercial fire in Cedar Rapids

Firefighters in Cedar Rapids rushed to a business in the 1500 block of 1st Avenue early Wednesday morning after reports of a fire. The first responders arrived at around 2:30 a.m. and immediately sprung into action, extinguishing the flames from the exterior through a window. Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.

Despite light fire damage to the building, there was moderate smoke damage throughout. TV9 crews near the scene reported that firefighters had blocked off the road near the building. However, police stated that the road would fully reopen once crews cleared the scene.

The firefighters’ quick response prevented the fire from causing significant damage to the building. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and authorities are working to determine what may have sparked the blaze. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
