CBS Sports Classic: Kentucky and Ohio State to Face Off in Highly Anticipated Basketball Showdown at Madison Square Garden

Ohio State Buckeyes Set to Return to CBS Sports Classic

Kentucky and Ohio State will face off in the CBS Sports Classic on December 21 at Madison Square Garden. The Wildcats are looking to end their two-game losing streak against the Buckeyes, with their last victory coming in 2011 during the Sweet 16.

The last two matchups between Kentucky and Ohio State saw the Buckeyes come out on top, winning by a combined 13 points. This year, Ohio State will have a new head coach leading the team as they seek revenge against the Wildcats. The Buckeyes previously upset Kentucky in 2015 under Thad Matta and in 2019 under Chris Holtmann.

Ohio State has a 2-0 record in games played in New York, and first-year head coach Diebler will aim to extend both the team’s three-game winning streak against Kentucky and their winning streak in New York. It will be an exciting matchup between two talented teams seeking to make a statement on the court.

This year’s game will feature first-year head coaches Mark Pope of Kentucky and Diebler of Ohio State. The CBS Sports Classic is in its 11th edition, with North Carolina, UCLA, Kentucky, and Ohio State participating. All four teams are ranked in the top 20 of Andy Katz’s preseason Power 36 rankings.
