Cancer Breakthrough: 54-Year-Old Woman Defeats Right Colon Tumor with Prompt Medical Treatment

A 54-year-old woman experienced persistent pain in her right flank and tried over-the-counter medication for three weeks without relief. Instead, she developed severe symptoms such as vomiting, pale skin, bowel disorders, and continued weight loss for an unknown reason. After visiting the hospital for an examination, a large tumor measuring 10Ă—15 cm was discovered in her colon, causing semi-obstruction and necrosis. This necessitated surgery to remove the giant right colon tumor along with a portion of the intestine.

On June 29th, M.D. Nguyen Thanh Tam led a team of surgeons in a nearly three-hour procedure to remove the massive right colon tumor and some of the intestine. The patient underwent lymph node removal and retraining of digestive circulation during the operation. After five days of monitoring and treatment, the patient began to show gradual improvement and was discharged from the hospital on July 6th.

Dr. Tam noted that colorectal tumors can occur in younger individuals who may not present any symptoms until later stages when they become more noticeable, including abdominal pain, digestive disorders, and flank pain. It is crucial to seek medical attention promptly to avoid complications such as ruptures, peritonitis, or death. Several factors increase the risk of developing colorectal tumors including age over 50 years old, being overweight or a smoker, consuming a high-fat diet or having a family history of tumors or colon cancer.

Regular colorectal cancer screening using internal digestive endoscopy can help detect small polyps before they become cancerous if detected early enough; it can prevent unnecessary surgeries or chemotherapy treatments that could cause harm to patients’ health or even death if left untreated.

Symptoms such as abdominal pain, heartburn, bloating, and weakness should prompt individuals to visit their doctors for evaluation and personalized advice on maintaining their health by making lifestyle changes like eating a balanced diet rich in fiber and vitamins C & E while avoiding processed foods high in sugar and saturated fats.

In conclusion, seeking medical attention promptly is essential when experiencing any abnormal symptoms related to colorectal cancer as it increases the chances of successful treatment outcomes while minimizing potential risks associated with delayed diagnosis or delayed treatment.
