Can Brest Hang on to Their Star Strikers? Satriano and Mounié’s Future in Limbo as Club Prepares for Champions League Debut

Brest’s Desire to Retain Martín Satriano of Inter Milan

Stade Brestois has secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League, marking their first European adventure. However, the upcoming question is whether the strikers who helped them get there will still be part of the team come August.

Brest is keen on keeping Martín Satriano, a 23-year-old Uruguayan forward who scored four goals for Les Ty Zéfs in Ligue 1 last season. Despite his modest goal tally, Satriano’s contribution both offensively and in build-up play has been significant. However, negotiations with Inter Milan, where Satriano was on loan last season, are necessary to secure his continued presence at Brest. Inter Milan is reportedly seeking around €10m for Satriano, with interest from clubs in Italy, Spain, and Germany also in the mix.

Another player with an uncertain future is Steve Mounié, a former Huddersfield Town forward who has yet to respond to a contract extension offer amidst interest from other clubs across Europe. While Mounié’s goal tally was impressive last season, his contributions offensively and in build-up play were equally valuable to Brest’s success. Whether Mounié chooses to stay or move on remains to be seen as he weighs his options before making a decision.
