Buffaloes Struggle in USA TODAY Sports’ Post-Spring College Football Re-Rank: Poor Ranking Despite Strong Second Season

USA TODAY Sports’ post-spring re-rank fails to give Colorado deserved recognition

The new post-spring college football re-rank released by USA TODAY Sports placed the Colorado Buffaloes at a low position among the 134 Football Bowl Subdivision teams. Specifically, the Buffs came in at No. 76, making them one of the lowest-ranked Power Four programs. Despite their poor ranking, three teams that won four or fewer games last season were placed higher than Colorado: No. 73 Arkansas, No. 69 Pitt, and No. 59 Wake Forest. The new-look Big 12 Conference didn’t fare much better in the re-rank, with only three teams cracking the top 25: No. 15 Utah, No. 19 Kansas State, and No. 23 Kansas.

Colorado’s upcoming opponents include Nebraska Cornhuskers ranked at No. 25 and in-state rival Colorado State Rams ranked at No. 89 on this list of rankings for college football’s second season under Deion Sanders era will kick off against Football Championship Subdivision powerhouse North Dakota State on August 29th .
