Buffaloes Reach for Preseason All-American Honors with LaJohntay Wester and Travis Hunter: Expert Phil Steele Picks Their Names in Special Teams

Phil Steele names Colorado newcomer preseason All-American

In his latest 2024 preview magazine, college football analyst Phil Steele named Colorado Buffaloes newcomer LaJohntay Wester to one of his preseason All-American teams. Wester, a transfer wide receiver from Florida Atlantic, was named second-team special teams as a punt returner. His exceptional performance last season with the Owls included 14 punt returns for 278 yards and one touchdown, ranking fifth nationally. Additionally, Wester achieved his first 1,000-yard season, leading FAU with 1,168 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He had six 100-plus-yard receiving games, including a standout 219-yard, three-touchdown performance against the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Another standout player from Colorado is Travis Hunter, who made two of Steele’s preseason All-American teams: first-team all-defensive as a cornerback and first-team special teams as an all-purpose player.
