Bubble Line Brewing Company: How Brittney Mikell and University of St. Thomas Students are Making History in the Twin Cities

St. Thomas Business Students Join Forces with Local Brewer to Help Launch New Business – Newsroom

Brittney Mikell is set to make history by becoming the first Black woman to open a brewery in the Twin Cities, with Bubble Line Brewing Company in St. Paul launching next year. To achieve her goal, Mikell collaborated with students from the University of St. Thomas Community Entrepreneurship Program, who provided valuable assistance in tackling some of the challenges involved in starting a business.

Through the program, Mikell was paired with student consultants who helped her develop and implement a crowdfunding strategy to finance her brewery’s opening. One of these students was recent St. Thomas graduate Laila Franklin, who worked closely with Mikell on the campaign. Franklin expressed admiration for Mikell as an inspiring figure, particularly for her efforts within the Rondo community.

Franklin also had the opportunity to sample some of the beer that Mikell plans to offer at Bubble Line Brewing Company at 22 years old. She shared that based on her tasting experience, she believed that the future patrons of the brewery have much to anticipate and enjoy.
