Browns Quarterback Deshaun Watson Returns to the Field for First 7-on-7 Work of Offseason, Expresses Gratitude for Health and Progress

Deshaun Watson, the Browns quarterback, participated in 7-on-7 work in front of reporters for the first time this offseason during Tuesday’s minicamp practice. After the session, he expressed gratitude for being back on the field, given the long journey he has had since a scary right shoulder injury last year that required season-ending surgery.

Throughout the Browns’ OTAs, Watson has been following a protocol that includes throwing every other day to get his shoulder ready for the regular season. He mentioned that it is still uncertain if the same routine will continue into training camp, as there are always checkpoints throughout the process. Despite this, Watson feels positive about his progress as the offseason program nears its end.

Having been unable to play in 2021 and serving an 11-game suspension in 2022 prior to last year’s injury, Watson has learned to value each rep he takes on the field due to the extended absences. He understands that time lost cannot be regained, which motivates him to make the most of every opportunity. If Watson can maintain his momentum into the fall season, Cleveland will have high hopes for both the present and future.
