Broncos Welcome Back Injured Wide Receiver Patrick, Sutton Skips Workouts in Pursuit of New Contract

The Courtland Sutton situation with Sean Payton will resolve on its own

As the offseason continues, the Broncos have welcomed back wide receiver Tim Patrick to the practice field as he recovers from a torn Achilles injury that kept him out all of last season. Meanwhile, another key member of the receiving corps, Courtland Sutton, remains absent from voluntary workouts. However, Sutton’s absence is not due to injury but rather his pursuit of a new contract.

Head coach Sean Payton has expressed no concern about Sutton’s prolonged absence, stating that he is not worried and believes the situation will resolve itself in due time. The Broncos reportedly turned down trade offers for Sutton, indicating they plan to keep him on the team moving forward.

As mandatory minicamp approaches, it appears Sutton’s absence will continue. Opting out of mandatory minicamp would be a different decision from skipping voluntary workouts, but Payton seems unfazed by the situation. He is not overly concerned and is confident that everything will work itself out as the offseason progresses.
