The Denver Broncos have announced the signing of linebacker Andre Smith to their roster on a one-year contract. Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports first reported the news. The team has officially confirmed the signing, and Smith will be joining the team during training camp this summer.
Smith, who stands at 6-0 and weighs 240 pounds, was a seventh-round pick out of North Carolina by the Carolina Panthers in 2018. Throughout his career, he has played for several different teams, including the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons from 2020 to 2023. In total, he has appeared in 62 games and recorded 52 tackles, as well as accumulating 1,131 special teams snaps.
In order to make room for Smith on the roster, the Broncos have waived tight end Dylan Leonard with an injury settlement. This move solidifies Smith’s place among the Broncos’ linebacker group as they head into the upcoming season. During mandatory minicamp earlier this week, Smith tried out alongside other prospects such as Feleipe Franks, Hunter Kampmoyer, Ra’shaun Henry, Kyler McMichael, Blaine Hoover
