Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton Confident in Receiving Corps Despite Sutton’s Absence from Offseason Practices

Sean Payton expects the Courtland Sutton situation to resolve on its own

As the Broncos prepare for their mandatory minicamp, head coach Sean Payton expressed optimism about the state of their receiving corps. Despite the absence of Courtland Sutton from voluntary workouts, Payton believes that there is no cause for concern about the team’s ability to succeed.

Sutton has been away from the team for the entire offseason, missing out on valuable practice time and team bonding opportunities. However, he has not missed any games due to injury. Instead, he has been working with other receivers in private sessions to hone his skills and improve his game.

Despite Sutton’s absence from voluntary workouts, Payton believes that he will eventually return to the team before the end of OTAs. However, if he continues to miss practice time, it could impact his performance on the field next season. The Broncos have already declined trade offers for Sutton, indicating that they expect him to remain on the roster despite his contract disputes.

Payton is not overly worried about Sutton skipping mandatory minicamp, but he does believe that it would be a different decision than missing voluntary workouts. He expects Sutton to return to practice soon and make a positive impact on the team’s success in 2021.
