26-year-old Alfie Hewett has advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s wheelchair singles at the French Open after defeating fellow Briton Gordon Reid with a score of 6-0, 6-4. This marks his third straight win at the competition and he is looking to secure his ninth singles title at a Grand Slam event.
In the men’s quad singles, Britain’s world number six and 2020 runner-up Andy Lapthorne faced disappointment as he was defeated 6-1, 6-3 in his quarter-final match against Dutch second seed Sam Schroder.
Later in the day, Hewett and Reid will team up in the quarter-finals of the men’s wheelchair doubles against Dutch duo Tom Egberink and Maikel Scheffers. The British pair are aiming to secure their fifth successive Roland Garros title wins, having won each year since 2020.
