Bristol shoe chain from Belgium refutes claims of leaving the Netherlands

Belgian family business Bristol has denied claims that it plans to withdraw from the Netherlands. Despite reports in The Telegraph, the company is committed to maintaining its presence in the country and has seen operational profit for the first time in 2022 since 2016. However, Bristol still experienced a net loss of half a million euros in November 2023 due to staff shortages and declining sales figures.

CEO Elise Vanaudenhove emphasized that the company is working on a turnaround in the Netherlands and remains dedicated to providing value for customers. Despite these challenges, Bristol clarified that it has no plans to leave the Netherlands and remains committed to its strong presence in the Dutch market. The company acknowledges the specific challenges it faces there and is actively working on solutions to improve its performance. While Bristol has faced difficulties, it aims to continue offering quality products and services to its customers both in stores and online.
