Bridgeport Joins Global Effort to Teach Water Safety: The World’s Largest Swim Lesson Takes Place at the Bridge Sports Complex

The Bridge Sports Complex Takes Part in World Record Swim Lesson

On Thursday, pools and aquatic centers worldwide took part in the 15th annual World’s Largest Swim Lesson. The event aimed to teach kids water safety by offering free swim lessons. In Bridgeport, the lesson was held at the Bridge Sports Complex, where lifeguards and instructors from around the world gathered to share their swimming techniques that could potentially save lives.

The World’s Largest Swim Lesson is part of a global drowning prevention event started by the World Waterpark Association in 2010. Officials emphasized the importance of discussing, teaching, and learning about water safety. They advised starting swim lessons as early as possible and also encouraged adults who don’t know how to swim to take lessons.

The Bridge Sports Complex offers swimming lessons throughout the year. Anyone interested can sign up for lessons by texting “SWIM LESSONS” to 833-262-7722 to receive registration updates. The complex has two pools, with the warm pool being ideal for beginners as it is warmer and shallow enough to touch the bottom. Membership pricing is available for those who cannot afford swim lessons, with day passes and memberships also offered.

Team World’s Largest Swim Lesson holds five Guinness World Records for conducting the largest concurrent swimming lesson at multiple venues. The current official record was set in 2014, with over 36,000 participants in 22 countries.
