The anti-corruption committee has reported discovering more than 30 cases of obtaining driver’s licenses for bribes. A senior inspector at the registration-examination department of Armavir marz, S. K., and his close friend S. P. were found to have used their official powers and influence to accept bribes from citizens applying for a driver’s license.
According to the investigation, during 2023, S. K. and P. K. administered formal theoretical and practical exams to around 30 applicants, creating fake documents in order to issue the licenses. They received a total of 6.5 million AMD in bribes from these citizens, with some individuals paying up to 400 thousand AMD each. In some cases, the candidates did not even participate in the exams, yet they still received a driver’s license.
This led to many people operating vehicles without proper knowledge or training, putting themselves and others at risk on the road. As a result, S. K was charged with abuse of official powers and fraud while S
