Brewers Make Changes to Pitching Staff: Junis Injured, Ashby Recalled to Start

Brewers put pitcher Jakob Junis on IL, bring up prospect Aaron Ashby

The Milwaukee Brewers have made some changes to their pitching staff, as starting pitcher Jakob Junis has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder impingement. In his place, left-hander Aaron Ashby has been recalled from Triple-A Nashville and will take over in the rotation.

Junis first noticed tightness in his right shoulder during his start on Tuesday in the Brewers’ home opener against Minnesota. The discomfort increased as the game went on, leading Junis to seek medical attention. Fortunately, imaging tests did not reveal any serious structural damage, but the team is being cautious with his recovery.

Manager Pat Murphy explained that placing Junis on the injured list is a precautionary measure and is in the best interest of Junis’ long-term health. The team expects Junis to have a short stint on the injured list as he works through his shoulder issue.

On the other hand, Aaron Ashby is no stranger to overcoming injuries, as he underwent left shoulder surgery last April. Despite this setback, Ashby has worked his way back and made one start at Nashville this season, showing promise despite giving up three runs and four hits over five innings. The Brewers have confidence in Ashby’s abilities and are eager to see how he performs in the starting rotation.
