In March, the docu-series “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” brought to light the sexual abuse that Drake Bell endured at the hands of Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck. Back in 2004, Peck was convicted of sexually assaulting an unnamed child star from Nickelodeon and served 16 months in prison. During the trial, Will Friedle and Rider Strong wrote letters in support of Peck, not realizing the severity of the abuse or Bell’s true age.
Friedle recently reached out to Bell to offer his apologies after the docu-series aired. He explained that he did not recognize Bell in court, which is why he did not address the issue when they worked together on “Ultimate Spider-Man” years later. Bell described their conversation as “amazing” and expressed forgiveness towards them.
Strong also apologized for believing Peck’s account and supporting him. He acknowledged there was no excuse for their actions and emphasized the importance of apologizing and seeking forgiveness. Both Friedle and Strong expressed gratitude for their conversation with Bell and highlighted its healing power.
