In a bustling city in Texas, Kyle, there is an apparent abundance of people named Kyle. Despite a recent attempt to break the world record for the largest gathering of people with one name falling short, 706 Kyles of all ages turned up at a park in the suburbs of Austin. The current record is held by a town in Bosnia that brought together 2,325 people named Ivan in 2017.
This was not the first time Kyle attempted to break this record. Last year, the official count clocked in at 1,490 at what has become known as the Gathering of the Kyles in the fast-growing Texas city that is located about 37 miles south of Austin, the state’s capital.
Despite not being a top name in the U.S., ranking 416th among male names in 2023 according to the Social Security Administration, residents of Kyle continue to try and break the record for the largest gathering of people with one name, showing their pride and community spirit.
