Breaking the Norms: Globant’s Innovative Approach to Post-Pandemic Work Environment

One of the world’s largest technology companies implements permanent ‘work from home’ policy in 33 countries

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Globant SA CEO Martin Migoya discussed the company’s unique approach to the post-pandemic work environment. Unlike many tech companies that are mandating a return to the office, Globant has opted for a fully remote work policy for its nearly 30,000 employees spread across 33 countries. However, despite this remote work policy, Migoya values in-person interaction and has been expanding office space to accommodate a natural return of employees.

Globant’s clients include the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, and the company is in the process of hiring another 20,000 employees over the next five years as part of a $1 billion investment. While headquartered in Montevideo, Uruguay, Globant continues to open new office spaces beyond its hub in Buenos Aires, including a location in Tandil, a town with little tech presence before.

Migoya emphasized the importance of flexibility in the company’s approach to office spaces. He stated that the office should be an attraction point for people to come together rather than just a place to work. He sees the office as a connection engine for the company, bringing employees together in a collaborative environment. Despite this remote work policy, Globant has redesigned its offices post-pandemic to be more flexible and welcoming with round tables that fit several people and additional lounge space and private meeting areas. This modification has allowed employees to use the offices differently and has facilitated collaboration among teams.
