Breaking the Border: Laredo Sector Border Patrol Deploys Advanced Technology for Faster and Safer Commercial Vehicle Inspections

Advanced inspection technology deployed by Border Patrol at Laredo checkpoint in Texas

Laredo Sector Border Patrol recently launched a Multi-Energy Portal (MEP) at the I-35 Border Patrol Checkpoint. This advanced technology is designed to enhance safety for the public and expedite trade, making it a significant advancement in border security.

The MEP is an x-ray machine that improves the inspection process for commercial vehicles through heavy shielding, ensuring a safe and quick examination process. It is capable of scanning over 150 containers per hour in the normal flow of traffic at the checkpoint, streamlining the inspection process for commercial vehicles and making it easier for both travelers and traders passing through the checkpoint.

With this new technology, Laredo Sector Border Patrol aims to promote trade facilitation while enhancing security measures in the region. The MEP’s ability to scan a high volume of containers per hour will help expedite the inspection process and minimize delays for commercial vehicles passing through the checkpoint. This deployment represents a significant step forward in border security technology and demonstrates Laredo Sector Border Patrol’s commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of border operations.
