Breaking the Barrier: 2028 Olympic Swimming Meet Expected to Shatter Attendance and Spectacle Records in Los Angeles

Swimming to be a Featured Event at SoFi Stadium during L.A. Olympics

The 2024 Olympics swimming trials took place at the Colts’ stadium, while the upcoming 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles will host the swimming competition at SoFi Stadium. According to Kevin Draper and Jenny Vrentas of the New York Times, the state-of-the-art stadium can accommodate up to 35,000 fans.

In preparation for the competition pool and warmup pool, the order of games will be flipped, with track and field events taking place in the first week, and swimming shifting to the second. The pools will be in place when the games begin, but additional time will be required to get them ready for competition after the opening ceremonies at SoFi Stadium.

Casey Wasserman, chairman of the L.A. organizing committee, expressed his confidence that the upcoming swimming meet will be the largest attended in the country’s history and potentially the most spectacular one ever. The trials held on Wednesday already set a new attendance record with 22,209 fans, surpassing the previous record set earlier in the week in Indianapolis.
