Flames trade goalie Jacob Markstrom to Devils in blockbuster deal

The Devils have recently acquired goaltender Jacob Markstrom from the Calgary Flames in a significant trade. In return, the Devils sent defenseman Kevin Bahl and a first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft (top 10 protected) to Calgary.

Markstrom, who is 34 years old, has been a top contender in Vezina Trophy voting in recent years and is a two-time All-Star. He had an impressive season with the Flames this year, posting a 2.78 goals against average and a .905 save percentage in 48 games. Markstrom’s standout season was in 2021-22, when he recorded a 2.22 GAA and finished as the runner-up for the Vezina Trophy.
