On Thursday afternoon, a chemical fire occurred at Wikoff Color on Union Center Drive in South Forsyth County, resulting in an employee being injured and causing an area road to be closed for over an hour. The fire began inside the warehouse of the business and was discovered by Fire Department officials around 1:15 p.m. One employee had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital due to injuries sustained in the fire. The current status of the injured person is unknown.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media that Union Center Drive was temporarily closed while authorities managed the situation. The road has since been reopened as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire. An investigation is underway to determine how the fire started and what led to the injury of the employee.
