Breaking Guinness World Records: Philadelphia Celebrates Pride Month with Largest Drag Story Time Reading

Philadelphia strives to break the Guinness World Record for largest drag queen story hour

To celebrate the beginning of Pride month, The Philadelphia Gay News is trying to break a Guinness World Record. On Saturday morning at 9 am, the National Constitution Center at 525 Arch St will host the largest drag story time reading. This event is sponsored by Visit Philadelphia and will feature regional drag performers reading aloud from popular children’s books.

Philadelphia’s own drag performer and LGBTQIA+ activist Brittany Lynn will be hosting the event. Guests, families, and friends are encouraged to register for the event. A judge from Guinness World Records will be present to count attendees, along with Celina Morrison-McLean, Philadelphia’s Executive Director of LGBTQ Affairs.

The Philadelphia Pride and March Festival will take place on Sunday, June 2 with its first-ever headliner, RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist Sapphira Cristal. The event will include the largest number of participating businesses in its history. Pride month in Philadelphia kicked off on Thursday and will be full of celebrations and activities throughout the city. This year’s Pride season will feature a record-breaking 400-foot flag representing the diverse community.
