Three New World Champions Crowned on Day 4 of Judo World Championships

On day four of the 2024 Abu Dhabi World Judo Championships, there were some exciting developments. Mr Jean-Luc Rougé received the prestigious judo 10th dan from IJF President Mr Marius Vizer, marking a significant milestone in his career. The -78kg final saw a showdown between Germany’s Anna-Maria Wagner and Italy’s Alice Bellandi. Wagner, the more experienced competitor, claimed her second red backpatch by defeating Bellandi in the final. She was awarded her gold medal by CEO of MET Group Chairman, Mr Benjamin Lakatos.

In the -90kg category, 2017 world champion Nemanja Majdov faced off against Goki Tajima in a thrilling final that also went into golden score. Tajima ultimately emerged victorious, securing his place in history. The medals were awarded by the 4th President of Croatia & IOC Member Mrs Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic. Tajima expressed his desire to entertain the audience while aiming for victory.

The -70kg category featured an all-French final between Margaux Pinot and Marie Eve Gahie. After a cagey match that went into golden score, Pinot emerged victorious, claiming the World title. In Abu Dhabi, the atmosphere was filled with excitement as athletes celebrated their qualification for the Paris Olympic Games. The championships have showcased top talent from around the world, with athletes giving their all to secure victory and earn a place in judo history.
