Breaking Barriers: Promoting Emotional Wellbeing and Healthy Lifestyles in Grade School Students

East Bluff Community Center addresses mental health concerns following summer crime increase

On Saturday morning, the East Bluff Community Center in Peoria hosted an event called “Stop Trippin’ and Start Living’” to promote children’s emotional wellbeing and healthy lifestyles. The primary target audience for the event was grade school students, with the goal of removing barriers to accessing mental health resources, particularly for these students.

The event welcomed everyone to attend, but it was geared towards grade school students. Demetrius Randle, the Executive Director of EBCC, stated that the event was created to help children feel more comfortable and to start an open dialogue about their feelings. Additionally, the center will be launching a summer basketball program for third through seventh graders starting on June 15th.
