Michigan Tech track and field runner Sam Lange recently shone in the Phil Esten Challenge in La Crosse, Wisconsin. During the event, he set a season-best time in the 1,500m race and emerged as the victor. This achievement comes as part of Lange’s unbeaten season and has earned him recognition by being named the GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career at Michigan Tech.

Originally from Washington, Illinois, Lange’s impressive performance at the Phil Esten Challenge included clocking an NCAA Provisional qualifying time of 3:48.38. This win marked his fourth victory of the outdoor season so far. Looking ahead, Lange and other GLIAC athletes will be competing in the GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Grand Valley State from May 1-3.

Lange’s hard work and dedication to his sport are paying off, and his success on the track is being recognized by both his team and the league. The upcoming championships will provide him with another opportunity to showcase his skills and push himself to new heights.
