In Africa, gender inequity poses a significant challenge to improving the health of women. This is due to a variety of factors including poverty, economics, sexual and gender-based violence. Global health leaders must acknowledge that equal access to achieving better health outcomes for women is essential in order to tackle these obstacles.
To address this issue, two distinguished global health leaders from Africa will engage in a discussion on how to provide equitable healthcare for women on the continent. The program will be moderated by Wafaie Fawzi, Richard Saltonstall Professor of Population Sciences, and Professor of Nutrition, Epidemiology, and Global Health at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Speakers for the program include Awa Marie Coll Seck, Former Senior Minister to the President of the Republic of Senegal and Richard L. and Ronay A. Menschel Senior Leadership Fellow at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as well as Lia Tadesse Gebremedhin, Former Minister of Health of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Executive Director of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program at Harvard T.H.
