In Melbourne, the office of Australian MP Josh Burns, a Jewish supporter of the state of Israel, was targeted in a destructive attack. The parliamentarian believes the attack was politically motivated, but it is more accurately described as anti-Semitic in nature.
Surveillance footage revealed that a group of five individuals were involved in the night attack on the office. They vandalized the building by smashing windows, disabling the communication system, lighting the door on fire, splattering red paint on the walls, and leaving the slogan “Zionism is fascism” in the same paint.
Following the incident on October 7, Burns reported that members of his staff had been physically attacked and verbally abused due to his stance on the state of Israel. He condemned the violence and stated that such attacks would not lead to peace in the Middle East.
