The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment has announced that the public health advisory put in place after a sewer line break in Lenexa has been lifted. The 21-inch break, which was caused by heavy rain, occurred near W. 81st Street and Nieman Road.
During the repair process, crews worked to contain sewage flow into the creek by redirecting it around the break and back into the sewer system. As a precaution, JCDHE advised residents to avoid contact with creek water until water quality tests confirmed it was safe.
Recent test results have shown that bacteria levels in the creek have returned to normal, allowing the advisory to be lifted. Residents can now safely enjoy the creek without worrying about potential health risks.
