Brave Women, Honorable Mention: Fort Wayne Celebrates Military Women with 2023 Indiana Military Veteran Hall of Fame Recognition

Veterans Affairs Northern Indiana to host mixer for women veterans’ health

On June 12th, Fort Wayne, Indiana hosted a celebration to recognize the contributions of women who have served in the military. The VA Northern Indiana Health Care System organized the second annual mixer, which was held to honor and celebrate these brave women.

During the event, one of the women from the 2023 Indiana Military Veteran Hall of Fame was acknowledged for her service. Lisa Wilken, an Air Force Veteran and one of the recognized women, expressed her joy in being able to set an example for young women today. She emphasized the importance of showing that women are capable of achieving anything as long as they meet the standards and criteria required.

In addition to the mixer, the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System is also in the process of collecting signatures to create a special Indiana license plate specifically designed for women veterans. This initiative aims to further honor and recognize the sacrifice and dedication of these brave women. The efforts to celebrate and support women in the military continue to be a priority for the community in Northeast Indiana.
