In Rouen, Normandy, French security forces prevented a potential attack on a synagogue by killing an armed man on Friday morning. The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, commended the officers for their quick response and bravery in neutralizing the individual who intended to set the synagogue ablaze.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m., and security forces were alerted to smoke in the area. Upon arrival, they encountered a man with a knife and an iron bar who attacked the officers. Fortunately, no additional casualties were reported, and the fire at the synagogue was being brought under control by the Fire Department.

Rouen Mayor Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol expressed solidarity with the local Jewish community and assured that there were no further victims. The quick action of the security forces prevented a potentially dangerous situation from escalating.
