Brandenburg Introduces Liquidity Support Program for Hospitals Facing Financial Distress

Loan Program Available for Brandenburg Hospitals in Need of Assistance

In order to help hospitals facing acute financial distress, the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg has introduced a liquidity support program. This program offers loans to hospitals experiencing payment difficulties, with a maximum term of 5 years. The Brandenburg aid program was announced at a hospital conference in January and is intended to provide support until the planned hospital reform by Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach can take effect.

Hospitals across the country, including those in Brandenburg, are facing financial difficulties and deficits. The state Ministry of Health has allocated up to 40 million euros from state funds for this purpose. Funding will be decided on a case-by-case basis for individual hospitals that need assistance with their finances.

The liquidity support is an additional measure from the state government to help hospitals until the federal government adequately finances clinic operations. Health Ministry Ursula Nonnemacher emphasized the importance of bridging the gap until the federal government addresses the underlying causes of financial strain in hospitals. By providing liquidity support, the state government hopes to ensure that these important institutions can continue to provide care to patients during this challenging time.
