Branching Out: The Tragic Accident on Neumarkplan Street in Berlin-Neukölln

Man trapped in car after branch falls in Berlin accident

In the Berlin-Neukölln neighborhood, a dramatic accident occurred where an eight-meter-long branch fell on a parked Opel Astra Caravan and trapped a man. The incident happened on Neumarkplan Street in the Britz district of Neukölln around 7:25 p.m. The man and at least two children were standing near the car when the branch broke off unexpectedly from a tree, landing on the car and trapping the man.

Luckily, the children, aged 8 and 10, managed to escape being hit by the falling branch as they stood just one meter away. Onlookers quickly rushed to provide first aid but were unable to free the trapped man. The fire department arrived on the scene and successfully rescued the man who had suffered a broken tibia. He was then transported to a Berlin hospital for further treatment.

The children, in shock following the traumatic event, required immediate medical attention. An investigation is now underway to determine why the branch fell so suddenly without warning. This incident serves as a stark reminder of how unstable trees can pose potential dangers if not properly maintained regularly.
