Borkum Beach Bounty: Tourist Discovers $1 Million in Cocaine, Highlighting Ongoing Drug Trafficking Issue on German North Sea Coast”.

Tourist discovers 1 ton of cocaine on shore of German Wadden Island

A holidaymaker on the German Wadden island of Borkum made a significant drug discovery when they stumbled upon suspicious packages on the beach, containing 1,000 kilos of cocaine. The tourist found the bags in April, tied with a life jacket, and immediately alerted the authorities. Located north of the Dutch Groningen but part of Germany, Borkum is just one example of how drugs continue to wash up on the beaches of the German North Sea coast.

In 2021, workers found 25 kilos of cocaine on a dike in Aurich and a similar amount washed up on the Wadden island of Baltrum. These incidents highlight an ongoing issue with drug trafficking in the region. However, despite these illegal activities taking place on the beaches, there are still plenty of other enjoyable activities to experience in the area. From exploring beautiful natural landscapes to trying your luck at a casino, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or a thrill-seeker, the German North Sea coast has something to offer for every type of traveler.
