Boost Your Health and Well-being at Roanoke’s Men’s Health Day

Complimentary Men’s Health Screenings offered in Northwest Roanoke

The Roanoke community is in for a treat this weekend, as Men’s Health Day returns to the city. This free event is being hosted by New Horizons Healthcare and aims to raise awareness and prevent health problems among men in the area. The event will offer an array of services, including free blood pressure, weight, and prostate screenings, as well as presentations from a fitness coach and two LewisGale cardiology and urology doctors.

Linda Manns, the community health faith/parish nurse at Loudon Avenue Christian Church, underscored the importance of men taking care of their health for the sake of their loved ones. She highlighted that getting regular check-ups and screenings is not only beneficial for the individual but also for their family members.

Northwest Roanoke, a medically underserved community with many residents on Medicaid or Medicare, will benefit greatly from the resources provided at Men’s Health Day. The goal is to bring these free health services directly to the community, making it easier for men to prioritize their health.

The event will kick off at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 at New Horizons Healthcare on Melrose Avenue NW. While the event is free to attend, pre-registration is recommended. To register individuals can contact Gail Kinzer from Loudon Avenue Christian Church at 540-342-8852. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to prioritize your health and well-being!
