Boost Your Child’s Well-Being: Jordan School District Hosts Empowering Parents Conference

There is actually a science behind happiness, did you know?

On Thursday, April 10th, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Riverton High School, the Jordan School District is hosting an Empowering Parents Conference focused on promoting your child’s mental health and overall well-being. Angie Rasmussen, Student Safety and Wellness Specialist at Jordan District, emphasizes that the event will feature a variety of professionals and education experts who will share valuable insights and provide parents with tools to support their children’s well-being.

The conference will offer free short classes for parents and guardians of K-12 students covering a wide range of topics including mental health, autism, internet safety, grief, wellness habits, healthy relationships, happiness, stress reduction, school success and more. Vickie Robinson LCSW , a counselor at Jordan School District will be speaking about the science of happiness and the importance of character development in achieving happiness and post-traumatic growth.

Robinson believes that trauma does not have to define a person’s life and stresses the importance of each parent addressing their own well-being. In her class parents will learn how social scientists define happiness using five key components.
