This celebration encourages creativity, diversity, and equal access to knowledge by bringing together people from around the world on a single platform. During the pandemic, Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO’s 11th director-general, highlighted the power of books and literature in our lives. She emphasized the importance of arts during challenging times and believes that World Book Day not only celebrates the work of authors but also acknowledges the professions associated with books such as translation, publishing, editing, and sales.
