Black Opal CEO and White House Social Secretary Desirée G. Rogers to Keynote Harvard Business School’s Class Day

Harvard Business School is excited to announce Desirée G. Rogers, CEO of Black Opal LLC and former White House Social Secretary, as the keynote speaker for their Class Day. Her speech will take place on May 22 at Baker Lawn, one day before the University-wide Commencement ceremonies.

Rogers, who hails from New Orleans, graduated from Wellesley College in 1981 and later earned her MBA from Harvard in 1985. She then went on to play a crucial role as the White House Social Secretary under President Obama, where she worked on planning and executing official social events with the goal of making the White House more accessible.

After leaving the White House, Rogers took over as CEO of Johnson Publishing Company and oversaw Ebony and Jet magazines. Currently, she serves as CEO of Black Opal LLC while also being involved in various organizations such as Inspired Entertainment, Stagwell Global Media, American Cancer Society, and Gyrls in the H.O.O.D.

Rogers is widely recognized for her expertise in communication, diversity, and women’s empowerment. She believes that businesses must prioritize improving the lives of their consumers while bringing along other women on their journey to success. In her upcoming speech at Harvard Business School’s Class Day, Rogers plans to share insights on how embracing collaboration and diversity can lead to collective success in business and life.
