A woman in Florida decided to take a unique approach to car theft by calling the police on herself while attempting to steal a car. On Friday, May 31, Christy Turman broke into a car dealership with the intent to take one of the vehicles on display.
Upon entering the dealership, Turman alerted the police to her actions, believing that informing the authorities would somehow make her attempted carjacking legal. However, when law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found Turman exiting a stolen car. Instead of being charged with grand theft, she was charged with trespassing.
Turman explained to the police that she was participating in a “game of Black Ops to steal a car” and thought that telling deputies in advance would somehow make her actions permissible. Police searched the dealership and found evidence of a door being left open on an Audi A5, but there were no indications that any vehicles had been stolen.
Despite her unusual attempt at stealing a car, Turman managed to avoid facing charges for grand theft due to the police’s timely arrival. This marked her sixth arrest since 2005, with a criminal history that includes offenses such as petty theft, robbery, and aggravated battery.
